3 year professional diploma in affiliation with the Urdang Academy

We offer the following courses:

• Diploma in Dance

• Diploma in Musical Theatre

• Foundation Year in Dance/Musical Theatre

(minimum age- 16yrs)

The curriculum will be designed to maximise every student’s talents and individual

needs. All aspects of dance and theatre training will be undertaken both in a practical and

contextual sense.

 

•  Both physical and mental well-being is at the heart of our philosophy and methodology. 

• All faculty members will have professional experience in both performing and teaching. 

• A structured and transparent assessment system will be in place to ensure a clear reporting method provides feedback and positive guidance for development at regular intervals. 

• A masterclass and guest teacher programme will be in place for each year of training. 

• Regular and diverse performing opportunities will be provided

• Course overseen by the Urdang Academy

• Annual trip to London

English Language requirements
Our course is delivered in English.  We accept a range of English Language qualifications. We will have English language tutors to assist students who are not proficient in English- students may also be required to take an intensive English course

Why a Diploma not a degree?

We made a conscience choice to deliver a Diploma as it gives us the freedom to deliver more practical in studio training, better preparing our students for employment. We have one aim- to get every student a job at the end of the course. Following a professional diploma allows us to train our students harder and deliver the highest standard of training.

DIPLOMA YEAR 1

 

The first year serves as an introduction to the various core subjects for both Dance and Musical Theatre students by providing a thorough grounding in technique and theoretical understanding. Withing the training, the first year aims to establish an awareness of the LPAC lifestyle, developing a healthy, thinking, able performer capable of further training in pursuit of a professional career. Continual assessments are made throughout the course to monitor progress.

 

DIPLOMA YEAR 2

 

The second year of the course aims to build on the core subjects with the emphasis on further strengthening and broadening the technique. The focus is on developing skills and knowledge and encouraging an analytical and artistic approach to practical and theoretical work in preparation for the graduating year. Both courses will continue to study the core subjects but with varying emphasis in chosen specialities.

 

DIPLOMA YEAR 3

 

The main emphasis in the third year is to prepare the students for their intended profession. Professional Employment Skills are key, and individual career aims are addressed. There will be Agency opportunities both nationally and internationally. Work opportunities to gain experience will be a feature of the final year. The final aim is to find immediate employment.
